Dickinson tour of YPRES / SOMME

We have just returned from a tour of YPRES / SOMME (with Mark and Martin Dickinson) took in the preserved trenches at Sanctuary Wood, Ypres. The photo shows Nicky Bird banging on at Martin Dickinson (photo: Mark Dickinson), with Martin politely listening. A highlight of the tour was the great Canadian National Memorial at Vimy Ridge, a Memorial to all Canadians who served in the Great War. 60,000 Canadians were killed. It bears the names of 11,168 Canadians, who were killed in France but whose bodies were not found or identified. It is a magnificent sight.
