Verdun 1916

11-14 July, 2017. Fly Heathrow – Luxembourg, then mini-van to Fort Hackenberg on the Maginot line. Thence to Verdun. 3 nights. Second day the right bank including the forts, Verdun itself, the Ossuary and National Cemetery, and the marvellous new museum. Third day the left bank, Côte 304, the Mort d’Homme, the tunnels at Vauquois and the Crown Prince’s bunker. Verdun was the greatest and longest of WW1 battles and should not be missed.

Picture: Verdun’s fields and woods are pitted with shell holes and can be dangerous.
